Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has suggested that the Gunners could make a move for Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland this summer.
Speaking to Stadium Astro, the ex-attacker said Arsenal would love to have Haaland on their books for next season, with the 21-year-old forward set to leave Dortmund in the transfer window when a release clause becomes active.
Haaland will be one of the transfer sagas of the summer, with Manchester City and Real Madrid both interested in the attacking phenom and a deal for the forward potentially reaching as high as £250m in total as per Sky Sports News.
However, whilst Campbell said Haaland would be an excellent addition for Arsenal, the pundit noted that the ship might have sailed to sign the striker, even with Martin Odegaard on the Gunners’ books and loving life in north London.
The Norway international and captain is noted of being close friends with Haaland, yet even this and Arsenal’s potential return to the UEFA Champions League aren’t enough to convince Campbell that the striker will join the Premier League giants this summer.
The former Highbury star said: “Would they be in for Haaland? I am sure they would love him, I am sure Mikel Arteta is speaking to Odegaard to try to speak to him. But I think that ship has sailed. I think Odegaard can’t spin him to join Arsenal.”
Haaland is the dream signing if Arsenal finish in the top-four

Haaland will be at the centre of attention for much transfer speculation this summer, and whilst it feels impossible for Arsenal to sign the striker, the prospect seems more believable than first thought.
Indeed, the Dortmund superstar is not being tempted by money despite the incredible fees on display for the deal as per Sky Sports News, and if Arsenal can return to the Champions League, Haaland could potentially be possible if Odegaard can convince him about the project and the club’s owners are willing to back the deal.
