Speaking on his podcast, Phil Hay has claimed that Leeds will once again be active in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Marcelo Bielsa has garnered a bit of a reputation throughout his career for wanting to work with a small squad and not favouring a massive turnover of players, but it seems as though Leeds will be active once again.
Hay and his co-hosts were talking about how Leeds can avoided the dreaded second-season syndrome next term, and the journalist said that the way to stop this is to be proactive in the transfer market, which he expects Leeds to be.
“There are quite a few examples of difficult second seasons where teams have come up and done well that first year after promotion,” Hay said.
“I think the way to counteract that is to be proactive in the transfer market consistently, and Leeds will be at the end of this season, I do think we’ll see more activity, and I do think we’ll see more expenditure.
“They and Bielsa, who I do expect to stay, they will try and make sure that it’s not a case of one great season and then let’s coast from there. They will know there are positions they need to improve and work they need to do.”

This is great to hear if you’re a Leeds fan.
A fantastic first season back in the Premier League can lead to the temptation of resting on your laurels, and so many teams over the years have fallen foul of doing just that.
However, it seems as though Leeds are well aware of that pitfall and they’re going to be doing what is necessary to avoid being caught out next term.
Whether or not Leeds make solid additions remains to be seen, but it looks as though there’ll definitely be players coming in at Elland Road this summer.
