Speaking on his podcast, Phil Hay has shared Leeds United’s view of Cody Drameh, claiming that they see him as Luke Ayling’s long-term successor.
Drameh signed last summer from Fulham, and he’s been impressing in the U23s for quite some time now, earning all sorts of plaudits from supporters.
It seems as though the right-back also has his admirers within the club, with Hay claiming that there have been conversations about him being Ayling’s replacement one day.
“When they were signing players like Drameh for example, they were talking about him being a long-term successor to Luke Ayling. Ayling is coming up to 30, he’s not coming towards the latter stages of his career, but he’s advanced now in years,” Hay said.
“Whereas Drameh is very young, and because of the talent he has, and he has looked extremely good in the U23s games, they hope that there is a Premier League right-back there who they’ve signed for a small fee from Fulham who will ultimately be worth a lot more down the line.”

This is certainly an interesting update.
Ayling is playing the best football of his career at the moment, so Leeds don’t need to think about replacing him urgently, but it’s great to see that they believe Drameh has the potential to fill his boots.
Fingers crossed, Drameh does become as good as people at Leeds believe he will be.
