Speaking on his podcast, Phil Hay has delivered some insight into Luis Sinisterra after the winger signed for Leeds.
Sinisterra has arrived at Elland Road, and it’s fair to say that excitement is palpable in west Yorkshire after the Whites captured the winger.
Sinisterra was a star in the Eredivisie last term, but many Leeds fans would be forgiven for not knowing too much about him. After all, he’s not played in a top five league as of yet.
Hay asked some experts within the Netherlands to give him some insight into what Sinisterra is like, and the response he got should have Leeds fans intrigued.
What’s been said?
Hay shared what people in Holland had told him about Sinisterra.
“I’ve spoken to a few people in Holland about him. He sounds to me like a player who fits very well into a specific system, but I think he’s very similar to Raphinha in that he’s extremely good off the cuff. They thought a lot about him at Feyenoord, they were really impressed,” Hay said.
“They think he’s good enough for this move and they think he’s good value at £20m.”
The right system?
The fact that people Hay have spoken to have claimed that Sinisterra is a system player doesn’t bode well for Leeds.
Sinisterra has made his name as a left winger at Feyenoord, and Jesse Marsch’s teams are usually at their best when utilising a 4-2-2-2, and there’s no space for a left winger in that system.
Of course, we’ve seen Marsch use more of a 4-2-3-1 at Leeds, but that system hasn’t been a roaring success to date, and it may not get the best out of Sinisterra.
Leeds have a potentially fantastic player on their hands, but they need to make sure he’s used correctly.
