Speaking on the House of Champions Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update about Arsenal and their long-standing interest in Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The Gunners were strongly linked with a move for the Ukrainian in the summer transfer window, but for one reason or another, they didn’t push ahead with a move.

Since then, Mudryk has been excelling in the Champions League, and Romano claims that his pricetag has since increased.

However, according to the journalist’s sources at Shakhtar, Arsenal are still keen on the winger, but there is yet to be an official bid made.

Shakhtar aware of Mudryk interest

Romano shared what he knows about the young player.

“He would love to go to the Premier League, that is not a secret. He would love to go, he was dreaming of Premier League football when Everton offered in August, Bournemouth have been interested as have Brentford,” Romano said.

“Arsenal have been interested. In August they wanted him they had negotiations agent but no official bid in August because Shakhtar wanted more than €45m or €50m, but now it is way more than this. I understand it is more than €60/€65m for Mudryk to move in January.

“My sources at Shakhtar Donetsk tell me that there is no bid on the table, they say that ‘we know about the interest, we know they are keen on Mudryk in the future, but no official bid.’ It is on Arsenal now, the player would be open to moving in January because he wants a new experience in a new club.”

Expensive

If Mudryk is indeed going to cost north of €60m, then Arsenal, quite simply, need to look elsewhere.

Yes, he’s a very talented player, but would he even start for Arsenal?

Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are two of the Gunners’ most important players, and when you’re paying this sort of money for a player, you want them to be more than just a depth option.

If Arsenal want a player who they can use when Saka and Martinelli are injured or need a rest, then surely they can get someone for much cheaper than this.
