Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Ian McGarry has shared what two people close to Josh Kroenke have told him about his involvement at Arsenal.
The American is of course the son of Stan Kroenke, and he’s one of the senior figures at the Emirates these days.
The Gunners’ ownership is coming under more fire than ever before, but it sounds as though the Kroenke’s are here to stay as two sources have told McGarry that Kroenke is very committed and sees it as his duty to take the club forward.
“Having spoken to two people who have a good relationship with Stan Kroenke’s son Josh, who is of course one of the leading administrators at Arsenal. They say that Josh is very enthusiastic, very committed, loves being involved and sees it as his vocation to take the club forward with both his father’s financial and emotional investment so that they can make Arsenal successful in terms of trophies again,” McGarry said.
This is interesting and disheartening to hear if you’re an Arsenal fan.
The sad reality is that the London club could be passed down the Kroenke family for generations, and even when Stan decides that he wants to retire, Josh will be there to take up the mantle.
We can only hope that Daniel Ek’s offer is too good to refuse and that the Kroenke’s can do the honourable thing and step aside from Arsenal.
