Only less than a week ago, it seemed as though Arsenal were going to hand David Luiz a new contract, but that might not be the case now.
Initially, the Independent had suggested that Luiz is impressing Mikel Arteta and he wants the centre-back to extend his Arsenal stay.
But the Sun now claim that Luiz’s future looks pretty uncertain, with his current deal to expire at the end of the campaign.
Both reports have left a number of Arsenal supporters flummoxed as to what exactly is going to happen with their experienced head at the back.
Since Luiz’s move from Chelsea, a lot has been made of his performances out on the pitch.
But one thing that cannot be taken away from him is those leadership qualities, and from those alone, some Arsenal fans perhaps think it’s right to keep him on.
Mikel Arteta is trying to build a pretty young squad and having a Luiz-like character in the dressing room is beneficial.
On the other hand, others think it’s right for Luiz to part ways with the North London club because of his inconsitent performances and how he would seemingly free-up financial space to add quality in other areas.
Either way, this summer is the most important in Arsenal’s recent history because, both outgoings and incomings, if those in the Emirates boardroom get this wrong then it could prove to be costly.
