Leeds star, Kalvin Phillips, told GQ Magazine that when he has a ‘good game’ against the likes of Liverpool’s Mo Salah then they ‘recognise you’.

When Leeds played Liverpool at Anfield on the opening day of the recently concluded campaign, the Englishman admitted to being ‘starstruck’ by the players they were coming up against for at least ten minutes.

Leeds’ performance on the day didn’t suggest that because they gave Liverpool quite the scare, with Salah helping his team to a 4-3 win.

Phillips shared what it’s like coming up against such superstar players, as he also mentioned Manchester United’s speed machine, Marcus Rashford.

“For the first ten minutes, we were starstruck by the players we were playing against,” said Phillips. “But after that, we knuckled down and tried to get a result.

“Players such as Mo Salah, Marcus Rashford – if you go and you have a good game, they recognise you.”

Liverpool didn’t challenge for the Premier League title this season, but their left-footed speedster ensured that it didn’t end in complete disaster.

At one point, Jurgen Klopp’s men were struggling to score goals and losing an incredible six home games on the bounce.

But one thing that remained a constant was Salah putting the ball into the back of the net, as the Egyptian ended the campaign behind only Harry Kane as the Premier League’s second highest goalscorer.
