Speaking on the House Of Champions Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Cody Gakpo after the Dutch attacker became Liverpool’s latest signing.
The former PSV man has joined the Reds, and, as we all know, Liverpool do not make signings these days unless they are totally convinced by their quality.
According to Romano, the Reds have had their eye on Gakpo for quite some time, and he says that they were sold on the player due to the fact that he’s such a team player rather than an individual.

Liverpool loves Gakpo’s attitude
Romano shared what he knows about Gakpo.
“From what I’m told Liverpool wanted one more player in this position because they were very unlucky over the past two years with injuries so they wanted to add one player,” Romano said.
“They really love one thing about Cody Gakpo, they have scouted him for a long time, but they really love how he plays for the squad. They love that he’s a super professional player, he’s very good in the team, he knows how to adapt to the team’s priorities. He can play in different positions so he was considered a perfect opportunity in the market.”
Will fit right in
Liverpool know how to find a player who will fit into their squad, and it looks like they’ve found another one in Gakpo.
It’s incredibly easy to spot a talented player, but the real skill in recruitment is to find a footballer who will suit your team’s ethos, and by the sounds of it, Gakpo is that man.
The Reds’ success in recent years hasn’t been about individuality, it’s been built off the back of hard work and togetherness, and if Gakpo is the type of player who will buy into that mentality, he’ll be a success at Anfield.
