Alasdair Gold has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur love the way that both Roberto Martinez and Graham Potter’s sides play football, on his Youtube channel.

Both Potter and Martinez have emerged as potential candidates to take the Tottenham job.

And in his latest update the Tottenham journalist did hint that the pair had admirers on the Spurs board.

He said: “He certainly is one that Spurs have been looking at. They really like his style of football, him and Roberto Martinez. They both really like the way they play football.

“With Potter I think there’s a bit of a concern about looking at the clubs he’s managed before – whether he’s a strong enough character to step up and handle the egos.

“I’m led to believe that he’s not going to be a top, top, top choice candidate.”

Potter’s Brighton side have statically shown up very well this season.

There is a feeling that with a clinical finisher they could be far higher up the table.

Potter would, of course, have that in Harry Kane at Tottenham, but there would surely also be some concern that a manager of his calibre would not convince the star man to stay.

Potter may show plenty of promise, but he is hardly the sort of appointment that screams ambition.

Martinez, meanwhile, would also be a questionable choice – but he has done an impressive job with Belgium and has experience of managing higher profile players than Potter.
