One of Everton’s big positives this season with respect to their young players is Anthony Gordon. The teenager has started three of the Toffees’ last four Premier League games and, at times, he has looked like their best player.
Gordon, one of Everton’s own, came through the ranks and looks like he has a bright future ahead of him. The young midfielder seems to have Carlo Ancelotti’s trust and who better than the experienced Italian to guide him to greatness in the coming years.
The teenager has featured nine times for the Toffees in all competitions this season. He is likely to play a part in each of their next three games as well and Everton fans could not be happier.
It is never easy for a youngster to make the jump from the youth team to the senior squad. Gordon, like anybody his age, needed guidance from some of the senior players and he has named two Everton stars as his mentors.
He told Sky Sports: “Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman have been huge mentors for me because I feel they both take a good amount of interest in me.
“They really help me on a daily basis, and Seamus is a really good captain. He’s very vocal and he’ll tell me both when I’m doing really well and also when I can improve.

“Leighton is a massive leader in a much different way as he’s not a loud or a big talker. He’s just a really composed individual who leads through his qualities.”
Coleman and Baines are arguably the two most respected members in Everton’s squad at the moment. Gordon is lucky to have both of them put their arms around him to ease him into the squad and it looks like that has helped.
Gordon still has a lot to learn but the early signs are good. His versatility of playing on the wings is an added bonus to Ancelotti as well but, with him, Everton have found a successor to Gylfi Sigurdsson’s number 10 role.
