Philippe Clement is ready to change the pecking order at Rangers as he makes his mark on the squad this summer.

A large clearout of the Rangers squad has already taken place this summer and attention has turned towards new arrivals.

After finishing the season with only the Scottish League Cup to their name, pressure will be on Rangers to claw back against Celtic next season and challenge for the title.

Preparation for the new season is already underway with Philippe Clement’s squad returning to training in late June.

Rangers jetted out to the Netherlands to take part in a training camp, and Clement had some strong words for the media about the future of his squad when there.

Philippe Clement on James Tavernier and Connor Goldson next season

Clement was adamant that goalkeeper Jack Butland was the only “irreplaceable” member of his squad, but he even named an acceptable price tag for his shot-stopper.

James Tavernier and Connor Goldson have big responsibilities as two of the senior players in the Rangers dressing room but Clement revealed that their playing time next season is going to drop.

When asked about the duo, Clement said “What I see is that they brought a lot to the club over the last couple of years. That they did really good games with me.

“For me, they maybe played too much last season or the last couple of years because if you play 60 games nobody is at his top shape.

“They have done all of that for the club, they worked really hard for that. They are not going to play 60 games the season to come now.”

If Clement does plan to rotate Tavernier and Goldson to manage their game time then defensive reinforcements are desperately needed at Ibrox this summer.

As the club captain and regular goalscorer, Tavernier would leave a gaping hole in the side if he is benched.
