Usain Bolt was delighted for Leon Bailey after he helped Aston Villa record a much-needed point against Manchester City at Villa Park on Saturday.

The under-fire Steven Gerrard went into yesterday’s game on the back of suffering four defeats from five Premier League matches and many questioning his future in Claret & Blue colours.

But despite facing the best team in the land, his team put on a brilliant, showing, including Bailey scoring a stunning one-time finish after Erling Haaland had put the away side ahead.

Olympic legend Bolt was watching on from afar, as he posted on his Instagram story of him watching the game on his laptop added with the words: “They need fi (to) know ur name, bang!!!”

The former 100m sprinter is clearly delighted that his fellow countryman is now showcasing his magic after an injury-hit debut campaign.

It helps when you are starting consecutive games and that’s what the Jamaican star is getting because his clinical finish could be game-changing for Villa’s season.

CAN GERRARD TURN IT AROUND?

It’s not three points for Villa, but a point that feels like a win given the pressure Gerrard was under and where the team was seemingly headed.

Leicester City are another team struggling down the bottom and Villa will travel to the King Power next week, before facing off against Southampton on Friday night.

This point has less significance if Villa don’t earn maximum points from those matches because now they have an ample chance to climb that Premier League table.

The heat is still on Gerrard and those questions are still being asked, but this is a performance he can use to head down a more positive road.
