Speaking to TalkSPORT, Glenn Hoddle has been discussing Tottenham’s recent shortcomings and their need for a creative midfielder.
Spurs have been in torrid form as of late. They’ve won just one of their last five matches and they’re struggling to really get anything going in the attack.
The former Spurs boss, Hoddle, believes that these issues stem from the midfield not being creative enough and he’s urged the club to go out and get James Maddison from Leicester City.

Hoddle wants Maddison
Hoddle made the case that Spurs need a place like Maddison.
“I get so frustrated. With Tottenham’s firepower up front, they need someone more creative in midfield to supply the service,” Hoddle said.
“It’s crying out for someone with a bit of class and adventure who goes forward rather than sideways or back all the time.”
“Antonio wants to play two holding players and go with his firepower up front.
“But I think they need some creativity – because at the moment it’s down to Kane dropping in and creating.
“If you had [Christian] Eriksen, as an example… or Maddison, I love him.
“I think he should be in the England squad and, no disrespect to Leicester, if he was playing in a top six team, he would be sensational and an absolute shoo-in.
“Someone like that, who comes in off the lines… you’ve only got to look at the best teams in the country and they’ve got those players.”
Gettable
Maddison is a player that Spurs have been linked with for quite some time, but throughout all of these links it looked as though he was unattainable.
Indeed, Maddison has been more than happy at Leicester as the Foxes continues to challenge for the Champions League spot and major honours.
However, with Leicester now struggling more towards the bottom of the league, Maddison could be looking for a way out of the King Power Stadium before long, and as Hoddle says, the midfielder would be well-suited to Spurs.
