Liverpool fans loved Steven Gerrard starring down the Everton fans during Aston Villa’s 1-0 win at Goodison Park at Saturday lunchtime.
When Emiliano Buendia put Villa in the lead at the stroke of halftime, Gerrard walked past the Everton fans with a strut and confidence like he owned the place.
The manner in which he walked off during the break delighted the Liverpool fans and they loved him even more when he cheekily stuck his tongue out towards the Toffees supporters after the full-time whistle and told them where to go.
Only last week, Villa were coming from 2-0 down to record a 2-2 draw against Manchester United.
And now they have now added three points to their bag with a deserved win on the blue half of Merseyside against Duncan Ferguson’s men.
Everton sacked Rafa Benitez last week after their defeat to Norwich City and Ferguson was in temporary charge.
Despite his presence as the main man in the dugout, he couldn’t galvanise an Everton side low on confidence and hovering above the relegation zone.
With Gerrard back in the big time, Liverpool fans are loving their club legend showing, so far, that he belongs at the top level as a manager.
Things are heading in a positive direction for Gerrard, but there is still a long way to go.
Villa’s aim is to get back into Europe and put trophies back in their cabinet, if Gerrard can achieve that then, it’s not only at Anfield where he will have hero status.
Nonetheless, here is a selection of Liverpool fans reacting to Gerrard’s actions at Goodison Park yesterday:
