Tottenham Hotspur fans aren’t too impressed with the news that Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero have been called up to Argentina’s squad for the upcoming internationals.
Given that the duo have hardly played for Spurs this season, they were involved in an utter farce last time out, then it’s no surprise that fans are frustrated at what they are hearing.
Lo Celso has started only one Premier League game this season and played 98 minutes in total in the league.
As for their big-money summer signing, he has only started the one game and played only 83 minutes.
By this rate, the duo will start to rack up more minutes for their country than at club level, that’s if authorities don’t storm the pitch this time to try and haul them off.
It’s understandable that Spurs fans are a little frustrated because things aren’t rosy in the Hotspur Way garden.
And then, when they see players, who have hardly put in performances for them, getting a call-up for international duty, then they have a right to question on what basis they are getting picked.
Well, Argentina did win the Copa America in the summer and they played their part in that, especially Lo Celso.
And whilst the same issues of having to quarantine aren’t going to face the South American players this time, because of the UK’s change in guidelines, they still have to meet the guidelines of the country’s they are going to visit.
In truth, Spurs should see the positives because, both Lo Celso and Romero, will get some much-needed minutes on national duty.
If they can boost their batteries, get some form and rhythm under their belts then it might suit the North London club, after all.
Nonetheless, here is a selection of Spurs fans reacting to the news about two of their players:
