Alan Brazil has backed Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to hijack Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer for Nottingham Forest star, Brennan Johnson.

It was put to the presenter that Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham have a strong chance to sign the all-action winger before Friday’s transfer deadline day.

But Brazil suggested Arsenal should be looking to hijack a transfer for Brennan Johnson, as he told talkSPORT (30/08/23 at 8:15 am).

The former striker added that Eddie Nketiah isn’t clinical enough and Gabriel Jesus has had his injury issues, so Johnson would be a welcome addition to the Emirates.

Both Tottenham and Arsenal will be expected to be busy before the window slams shut, with incoming and out-goings expected.

Nonetheless, this is how Brazil reacted to Tottenham seemingly wanting to sign Johnson, as he dropped Arsenal’s name into the hat.

“Would Arsenal not be interested in Johnson,” said Brazil. “Eddie (Nketiah) is fine. But is he clinical enough? And if Jesus gets injured again, then they might struggle up front.”

Should Johnson leave Forest?

The 22-year-old, who was recently dubbed as ‘very exciting’ by Ian Wright, made huge strides last season.

After helping Forest earn promotion to the Premier League, he then helped Steve Cooper’s side maintain their top-flight status.

But, for his own progression, isn’t he better off staying put because he will earn regular starts, as Forest are looking to climb up the table and stabilise themselves even further.
