Tammy Abraham has claimed that Roma ‘made their interest clear immediately’ after the rumoured Arsenal target signed for the Serie A giants.

The 23-year-old told AS Roma’s official website that ‘you can sense when a club really wants you’, as he re-joined Jose Mourinho in Italy.

There were suggestions that Arsenal wanted to sign the Chelsea academy product and the player himself actually wanted a move to the club over joining Roma.

But rather than staying in London, Abraham will now take his poaching talents to Rome and Italy’s top-tier.

After Arsenal missed out on signing Abraham, this is what he had to say about his move.

“You can sense when a club really wants you – and Roma made their interest clear immediately,” said Abraham.

“Roma is a club that deserves to be fighting for titles and trophies. I’ve had the experience of winning major trophies and I want to be in those competitions again – so I want to help this team to achieve that and get to the level where Roma should be.

“It’s a massive honour to be the No. 9 at this club and I just can’t wait to get started and to help the team.”

Well, that’s one player Arsenal won’t be signing this summer and it perhaps frustrates fans even further as to where they are in regards to transfers.

Whether or not the majority of Arsenal fans wanted to sign Abraham or not, they are showing worrying signs of not being able to get deals over the line and beat rival competition to transfer targets.

Abraham would have been an upgrade on what Arsenal already have in their forward ranks, no doubt.

But then again, that risk of signing another Chelsea player and it not working out, would have struck fear into some fans.
