Speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has been discussing Tottenham’s hunt for a new centre-back and a couple of options from Inter Milan.
Antonio Conte, of course, was the manager of Inter before he came to north London, and ever since he joined Spurs he’s been linked with his former players.
New defenders from Inter have been linked on almost a bi-weekly basis with Stefan de Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar all reportedly being of interest to Spurs.
According to Thomas, Spurs would prefer to sign Skriniar over De Vrij at this point in time if they were going to move for a new right-footed defender.

Spurs like Skriniar a lot
Thomas shared what he knows about this situation.
“De Vrij has worked under Conte before and we know he likes him a lot the right-footer. He’s another good player. There are two right-footers that are good at Inter and I think Skriniar they like him more than De Vrij,” Thomas said.
Get him on a free
Tottenham are fans of Skriniar, and they’re in luck as he’s seemingly available on a free transfer.
Indeed, the centre-back’s contract is up in the summer, and that means that Spurs can open negotiations regarding a pre-contract agreement right now.
Unfortunately, they face a lot of competition from the likes of Arsenal and PSG, but surely the idea of reuniting with Antonio Conte will appeal to Skriniar after a successful spell together at San Siro.
Whenever any player is entering the final few months of their contract it’s a situation worth keeping an eye on, and this is no different.
