Pat Nevin praised Liverpool fans for providing Konstantinos Tsimikas with a ‘really good reaction’ to his performance against Cardiff in the FA Cup on Sunday, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
The former winger thinks Liverpool fans understand that Tsimikas finds it ‘hard’ playing second fiddle to the ‘unbelievable’ Andy Robertson, hence why they gave him a big ovation when he was substituted in the FA Cup.
Tsimikas started Liverpool’s 3-1 win against the Championship side and after 70 minutes he was replaced by Robertson.
The Scotsman has been the number one left-back on Merseyside for a number of years now, but after a settling down period last term, his Greek teammate is starting to pick up.
Nevin shared that Liverpool fans showcased their ‘knowledge’ by how they reacted to Tsimikas going off the pitch against Cardiff.
“Really good reaction Tsimikas has got,” said Nevin. “I think the fans really do like him. They really like him a lot.
“They know it’s hard for him. Robertson, who has been unbelievable, but they are saying with him ‘stick with us. We like you.’
“That’s great knowledge from the fans, not to give him a nice quiet applause. This is a big moment for Tsimikas, as it is every time he gets a start.”

Once again, Jurgen Klopp is showcasing his magic by finding gems from across Europe and turning them into superstars.
There also seems to be a common theme with all of these players and that’s Klopp settling them in, before unleashing them onto the big stage.
Robertson himself is a prime example of that, as Tsimikas is following suit because he has been outstanding during the times he has been handed starts.
Whilst he won’t push ahead of the flying Scotsman any time soon, at least Liverpool fans know that they have a strong backup to call upon.
