Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports that Arsenal will finish in the top-eight this season.
The former defender was grading Premier League teams and the season they have had so far, as he first graded Arsenal with a ‘D’ before changing his mind and giving them a ‘C-‘.
Arsenal are currently sitting tenth in the Premier League table, after their defeat to Aston Villa yesterday, on 31 points and four points behind seventh-placed Chelsea having played a game extra.
Either way, it has been a troublesome season for Arsenal and Carragher thinks that the club haven’t recruited well.
On what grade he would give Arsenal: “D. When you see Arsenal tenth. I know they haven’t been great in the last few years,” said Carragher.
“I am not putting all of this at Mikel Arteta’s door. I think he has done a really good job since he has come in. Winning the FA Cup. Winning the Community Shield.
“There are definitely signs now that they are moving forward. I think Arsenal will be top-eight by the time the season finishes.
“I love the younger players. But when you see Arsenal in tenth and you see the run they were on a while ago – they haven’t recruited great really. Partey has been out. Maybe C-.”

Arsenal are now going to struggle to secure a European finish unless they unleash a strong run from now until the end of the season.
In some cases, like Everton and Aston Villa, they are several points behind these teams and they have games in hand.
The younger players, like Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, have shed some much-needed light onto this team. But it’s some of the experienced ones who are then blocking that light out.
