‘They haven’t’: Gary Neville noticed what Tottenham boss shouted after Dier’s error

Gary Neville noticed Antonio Conte telling his Tottenham Hotspur players to ‘calm down’ during their 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

When Eric Dier gifted Mohamed Salah his second goal of the game by misdirecting his header, which was aimed at Hugo Lloris, the cameras proceeded to pan towards Conte on the touchline.

At that time, Spurs started to panic knowing that one more goal for the hosts would well and truly put them out of sight and put them in trouble at being on the end of a possible hiding.

That was proven when Hugo Lloris, when trying to play out from the back, nearly conceded possession when he was being closed down in a rapid fashion.

The Tottenham number one has had his troubles in between the sticks this season, most notably during his side’s defeat to Newcastle United.

Either way, as Spurs became frantic in their play, Neville noticed Conte barking orders at his players, as he told Sky Sports Premier League.

“He is telling them to ‘clam down’,” said Neville. “They haven’t got the right balance of players on the pitch, at this moment, to be able to do anything, unfortunately. There’s only really Kane.

“He’s telling them to calm down. But I think a few of the Liverpool chances in the last two or three minutes. He’s telling them to wait and be patient. They are just getting opened up, especially down this side (Emerson Royal’s).”

WILL TOTTENHAM FANS BE PATIENT WITH CONTE?

It seems as though Spurs fans are more than happy to see this defensive style of play from Conte, as long as they win.

But, in recent weeks, the defeats have been racking up and it seems as though it’s not sitting well with a fair few supporters.

Now, it’s nothing to be alarmed by yet because they are in the knockout stages of the Champions League and are still sitting in the Premier League’s top-four.

But a possibly tricky away trip to Nottingham Forest awaits them in the EFL Cup, and if they were to get knocked out, then that patience from the fans might just be seriously tested.
