Fabrizio Romano has shared that people close to Philippe Coutinho at Aston Villa have told him that they have never seen him ‘so happy’, as he told Vibe with Five.
The transfer expert shared that Coutinho was ‘suffering’ at Barcelona, but now he is ‘ready to fight’ and ‘super happy’ with the atmosphere at Villa Park.
Early on in the transfer window, Villa made their mark by bringing the Brazilian to the Midlands.
It was Coutinho linking up with Gerrard once again and the player himself getting off to the perfect start by scoring on his debut against Aston Villa.
Nonetheless, Romano shared an insight into Coutinho’s mood at the club and how it has changed since leaving the Nou Camp.
“We maybe lost a bit of magic around this deal because it was two or three weeks ago,” said Romano. “But it is a very good one.
“He has started very well. I am told by people at the club that in training he seems really happy. Super happy with Steven Gerrard. Super happy with the atmosphere.
“Who is close to Coutinho? Agents. They say they have never seen Philippe so happy and ready to fight as they see him right now.
“A few years ago. A few weeks ago. He was suffering at Barcelona because he wasn’t even considered a key player. Now he’s back as a star. He needed some fresh air. I think it’s a very good one (signing) for Aston Villa. They did a fantastic window.”
Coutinho may have struggled during his days at Barcelona, but he is showing serious signs that he is back to his best.
During his first few games at Villa, he is showcasing his old self and it only bodes well for those in B6.
But, even on his international return, the ex-Bayern Munich man scored a stunning long-range effort for Brazil to further prove that Coutinho of old is coming back.
Now it’s just a case of the playmaker producing a few of those stunning long-range goals at Villa Park.
