Gabby Agbonlahor says Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have ‘missed’ AS Roma loanee Georginio Wijnaldum and he questioned if they would take the midfielder back.
The 32-year-old left Liverpool during the summer of 2021 on a free transfer and joined Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain.
But Wijnaldum suffered a long-term injury upon leaving Anfield, which resulted in him missing Euro 2020 and it also meant that he just couldn’t get going at PSG.

That’s why he joined Jose Mourinho’s Roma in the summer on a loan deal, and he recently returned from his long-term injury, including scoring his first goal for the Italian club during their 4-3 home defeat to Sassuolo over the weekend.
But have Liverpool replaced their Dutch star in the middle of the park? They did win the domestic double without him, including pushing and just about missing out on a quadruple last term.
Well, former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor certainly thinks Wijnaldum has been missed, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (15/03/23).
“He (Wijnaldum) is coming back from injury, wasn’t he?! (after playing up front for Roma recently),” said Agbonlahor.
“But would they have him back? I know it’s not going to happen. But, since he has left, they have missed him. That energy. He could score a goal. The move didn’t work (to Roma and previously PSG).”

LIVERPOOL HAVEN’T BEEN PRO-ACTIVE
This isn’t a case of Liverpool shouldn’t have let him go, but they should have replaced the midfielder before he left Merseyside.
This wasn’t a surprise exit because he left on a free transfer and everyone knew about his contract situation, yet to this day, fans will argue that he hasn’t been replaced.
It’s up for debate as to who should take the blame for that.
