Fabrizio Romano says that Tottenham Hotspur have been speaking to multiple manager’s intermediaries, but are keeping their next choice very quiet, as per his comments on Chris Cowlin’s Youtube channel.

Tottenham have leaked that they have been after both Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte, with the rumours exciting supporters.

However, the talks for both managers fell through, despite Tottenham having confidence that a deal was possible for them both at one stage.

That has caused great frustration among the Spurs fan base, with Daniel Levy facing even more backlash.

And Romano now says Tottenham are keeping their cards very close to their chest.

“They have been talking with many [intermediaries] to explore opportunities, to see if they are available and what idea they have,” Romano said.

“But I’m sure that after the big problems with the public negotiations with Pochettino and Antonio Conte, now they are going with top secret negotiations for the next one.

“They can’t again have problems on their side.”

Better strategy

Romano’s update may go some way to explain why rumours have gone quiet around Tottenham now.

Since the deal for Conte fell through, it has not become clear who Spurs are targeting.

All that is known is that Levy has promised to go after an attacking coach, who is promotes Tottenham’s ‘DNA’.

Tottenham’s wait for a new manager has now lasted 49 days, and the hope will be that negotiations are far more advanced behind the scenes than has been let on in the media.
