Owen Hargreaves noticed how Steven Bergwijn and Çağlar Söyüncü had ‘a little scuffle’ before the Tottenham player’s dramatic winner against Leicester on Wednesday evening, as he told PL Productions (19/01/22 at 10:20 pm).

In the comebacks of all comebacks, Bergwijn took a leaf out of Lucas Moura’s Ajax book by scoring two stoppage-time goals to help Spurs beat Leicester 3-2 at the King Power.

The clock was reading 95 minutes when Spurs were 2-1 down to Brendan Rodgers side, before all hell broke loose.

Substitute Bergwijn pounced on the ball pin-balling inside the penalty area to level the scores, before he went on to net the winner within 20 seconds from kick-off.

All in all, it means that Antonio Conte is still unbeaten in the Premier League in Spurs colours and it puts his side further in the driving seat regarding those Champions League places.

Former Man United midfielder, Hargreaves, praised Bergwijn for his quite dramatic brace and noticed what was happening between the Spurs player and Söyüncü.

“Doherty, he gets in there and is brave,” said Hargreaves. “Before that, Bergwijn and Söyüncü, they had a little scuffle. They had a little moan.

“Then, they score straight from the kick-off. You think that Tielemans is in a great spot. You think Leicester are going to go up the pitch and score.

“Uh-oh. Counter-attack. This ball from Harry Kane, how Söyüncü gets done there, I will never know. Gets around Schmeichel and 18 seconds later, it’s the winner. It could be huge for them in the top four race.”

This is one that is going to take a very long time for Leicester to wipe from their memories because this is something that can well and truly derail a group of players.

But whilst those in the Leicester camp have that to worry about, it’s sky-high confidence for Spurs.

After losing on three occasions to Chelsea this season, Conte travels to Stamford Bridge again on Sunday.

Given Chelsea’s recent run of results and performances, then this is now a great time for Spurs to play their London rivals and secure those three points.
