Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing Everton’s managerial situation and where the Toffees will go next.

The Merseyside club sacked their manager after an abysmal run of form, and now, they’re trying to contemplate which coach can help them turn their season around.

The likes of Nuno Espirito Santo and Marcelo Bielsa have been linked, but Ferdinand believes that Sean Dyche could be the man they turn towards.

Ferdinand tips Dyche for Everton

The pundit spoke about the situation at Everton.

“It’s unfortunate man, but if you don’t get the results. What is it 11 defeats in the last 13 or 14 games? It’s bad form that. The scousers don’t mess about. You scousers hot up players and managers, do you think that’s right? They could be in the cars with their families man,” Ferdinand said.

The ex-Manchester United star was then asked who he thinks Everton will go for next.

“I reckon that they go for Sean Dyche,” Ferdinand replied.

Sideways step

Everton hiring Dyche really does feel like a sideways step for Everton.

Yes, he did a decent job at Burnley, but in the end he helped take the Clarets down, his style of play is rather boring, and he’s been outwitted by Frank Lampard himself on numerous occasions.

He’s won just one of his four meetings with Lampard in the past, and, to be honest, he’s not the most revolutionary tactician around.

Everton need to look to move forwards under their new manager, not just tread water.

Would Everton survive under Dyche? Probably, but would they thrive? It’s not likely.
