Martin Keown has stated that Leeds United and Everton will suffer relegation to the Championship if they lose their next Premier League fixtures.

Javi Gracia’s Leeds, who haven’t won a game since beating Nottingham Forest at the start of April, travel to the South Coast to take on Bournemouth on Sunday.

For Sean Dyche and his players, it’s another relegation six-pointer, this time it’s a trip to the Midlands to take on Dean Smith’s Leicester City on Monday night.

These are now the crunch moments of the season and those three points right now are proving to be season-defining.

But former Arsenal defender Martin Keown made it clear that, if Leeds and Everton suffer defeats in their next matches, then they will be Championship-bound, as he told Football Focus.

“I think that game against Leicester is absolutely massive,” said Keown. “I think, whoever loses that, goes down.

“If you have a look at the fixtures that both teams have to play, then they are quite tough.

“I think, also Leeds, if they lose to Bournemouth, then I think they go down too.”

RELEGATION WOULD BE CATASTROPHIC

Leeds United have just awoken from the dark days of England’s lower leagues that saw them spend nearly two decades out of the wilderness.

It’s something they just don’t want to be experiencing again and it’s something Everton will fear will happen to them if they drop.

Just like Leeds all those years ago, the Merseyside club are in financial turmoil and getting relegated would just send the club into meltdown off the field of play.
