Rio Ferdinand has told his official YouTube channel that he cannot recall Liverpool duo, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah scoring goals where they take on a number of players before putting the ball into the back of the net.
The former England defender stated that he doesn’t see them being ‘artist-like’ players, as ‘devastating’ as they are in front of goal for Liverpool.
Both players have hit a bad patch in recent weeks, as Liverpool go through a dry spell, but even with that, they are still the top goalscorers in the division.
Ferdinand shared his thoughts on Liverpool’s attacking duo and their approach to matches.
“Salah and Mane are no doubt great players and they score goals,” said Ferdinand. “But are they going to get the ball on the halfway line or just on the edge of their box, take on four players and score a goal?
“Are they going to get the ball on the sides of the wing or in the middle of the pitch, turn, take on three players and bang one in? They don’t really do that.
“You can say they can. But I don’t recall any times they do that. They get on the end of things many of the time. Or Mane and Salah would shift it and bang.
“But I don’t see them being them artist-like players who are going to draw two or three man to them and then do some sort of magic like that. As devastating that they are. They aren’t them guys.”
Even though Liverpool are seemingly struggling in front of goal, they are still the top goal-getters in the division and Salah is still the top marksman.
Burnley will visit Anfield on Thursday night and Liverpool fans will be hoping they can show their attacking might against a pretty robust and typically aggressive Sean Dyche defence.
But if it’s another night of struggle for the Liverpool front three then it will only add to the spice and drama of this titanic Premier League title battle between at least five teams.
