Andros Townsend has told the ITV Football Show Podcast that teams like Leeds United and Aston Villa simply ‘don’t care’ who they are playing against hence the crazy set of results recently.
Dean Smith’s side put a staggering seven goals past Liverpool recently, whilst newly-promoted Leeds have played like they are the dominant European side against that same opposition and Man City.
Added with that, both teams haven’t been fearful to get into the faces of those teams, press high and overload players out wide or in the penalty area.
Crystal Palace winger, Townsend, simply thinks it’s a case of those teams having no fear factor now, as he also praised Villa for their utter demolition of the champions.
“One of the reasons [for crazy results] is that the teams that are getting promoted now they have no fear,” Townsend told the ITV Football Podcast.
“You have seen with Leeds, they have come up into the Premier League, it’s their first time in 16 years and they don’t care that they are playing Liverpool or Man City. They are going to press high. They are going to play the way they are going to play.
“Villa are exactly the same. I actually watched the game again this morning to try and dissect what actually happened, but I think on the day Villa were just the better side. They pressed Liverpool high and caught them on a bad day. And they were very, very clinical too.”

Only two seasons ago, both Villa and Leeds were locking horns in England’s second-tier and they now sitting near the top of the Premier League table.
Whilst it’s early days, it’s still quite clear that two of England’s traditional clubs, with a rich history, are now trying to fight their way back to the top.
Leeds have the unique and eagle-eyed Marcelo Bielsa in charge, whilst Villa have their own forward-thinking boyhood fan at their disposal. Plus, both are backed by ambitious owners. All of which makes them very dangerous.
