It’s been a busy period for Chelsea, with the Blues making several key signings in recent weeks to strengthen their squad.

However, there is another major piece of business that the club is eager to get done in the near future, and that is securing the future of Mason Mount.

Indeed, according to Graeme Bailey on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Chelsea view a new deal for Mount as one of their priorities. This comes amid a backdrop of interest from Liverpool – as reported by The Guardian.

According to Graeme Bailey, Chelsea are extremely confident that they will be able to agree a new contract with Mount. In fact, the club are reportedly keen to make Mount one of the highest-paid players at Stamford Bridge.

Mount new deal on the cards

Bailey shared what he knows about Mount and this new deal.

“That is one of the priorities now for Chelsea, to get Mason Mount onto a new deal. From my understanding they are prepared to make him one of the highest-paid players at the club. They’ve been talking since the start of the season. They are hopeful and they do expect him to sign a new deal,” Bailey said.

Not going to Liverpool

This should put to bed any speculation around Mount heading to Liverpool.

The England midfielder has been linked with the Reds, but, to be honest, these links always seemed a bit unlikely.

Mount is a Chelsea academy graduate and a key player for the Blues, there’s next to no chance that he’ll just walk out on the club at this point of his career.

Factor in that Chelsea seem to be in the midst of a revolution, and you can absolutely understand why Mount wants to stay.
