Sam Allardyce has re-iterated claims on Sky Sports that Liverpool were ‘dead lucky’ to beat his West Bromwich Albion side last weekend.

Liverpool ran out 2-1 winners on Sunday as they kept their Champions League hopes alive.

The Reds scored their last minute winner in dramatic fashion, with Alisson heading home Trent Alexander-Arnold.

And in a fiery interview with Sky last night, Allardyce still seemed riled by the result.

The West Brom boss had been irked after his side were beaten by West Ham United and Michail Antonio suggested that they had played long-ball.

And he went into a rant, where he made a point about Liverpool which many at Anfield may disagree with.

“I’ve never played the same way at any football club I’ve ever been at,” he said.

“If you thought that was long ball today then somebody is deluded.

“Now we played long ball against Liverpool because it was the right way to play and should have got a result against them.

“They didn’t like it but it shows everybody that if you play a simple game against Liverpool you can get at them, behind them and get chances.

“They have gone and beaten Burnley 3-0 tonight, but they were dead lucky to beat us the other night. Dead lucky.”

Liverpool are unlikely to care too much about whether they were fortunate to win or not.

The Reds’ win seems to have provided them with momentum, and they managed to beat Burnley last night at Turf Moor.

That puts Liverpool in the driving seat to make it back into the top four and claim a Champions League spot.

Jurgen Klopp’s side take on Crystal Palace on the final day of the season, knowing that a victory should be enough to secure them elite level European football once again.
