Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said to the club’s official website that Neco Williams, Curtis Jones and Rhys Williams all impressed him last night.
Liverpool were beaten 2-0 by Atalanta in the Champions League, after Klopp named a much rotated line-up.
The Reds’ didn’t play with their usual intensity or attacking style.
But Klopp insists that Liverpool’s three young players all stood up to the challenge well, and he was pleased to see that they lasted the 90 minutes.
“The kids did really well, all of them,” Klopp insisted.
“Neco did well, first half he defended very often. Not on his own, but he was really aggressive in these situations and could sort the situations.
“It is a tough task for the kids; we ask them to show up in the Champions League and play their best football and people sit there, ‘Oh, he’s good… oh, he’s not that good…’ and stuff like this. They all did well: Rhys did well, Neco did well and Curtis played again like a 26/27-year-old midfielder.
“They didn’t get tired during the game, which is helpful. They did really well, the kids were really good.”

With Liverpool’s injury problems racking up the trio are all set to be continued to be used for the Reds throughout the season.
Jones, in particular, now has a very important role and seems to have become a fairly established member of the first-team squad now.
With the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Thiago and Jordan Henderson all sidelined, Klopp’s options are extremely limited and it has meant that Jones has had to play regularly this term.
Liverpool are next in action against Brighton at the weekend, when the young midfielder surely has a strong chance of being included in Klopp’s starting XI again.
