Lucas Moura told Sky Sports that Gareth Bale, Matt Doherty and Dele Alli ‘did well’ for Tottenham today despite their defeat to West Ham, as posted by Football Daily.
All three came on as substitutes for Spurs, with both Bale and Doherty coming on during the half-time break.
Bale certainly made an impact, with his pin-point cross from a corner landing on the head of Moura, who put the score at 2-1.
The Welshman also crashed the crossbar after a vicious volley, with Moura sharing his thoughts on the impact the Spurs trio had when they came on.
“I think they did well,” said Moura. “Gareth (Bale) and Matt (Doherty), and after Dele as well.
“We tried to do everything. We tried to do everything we could do and like I said we had the opportunity to score and draw the game.
“But we didn’t score and we need to do better. The two goals we conceded, we cannot concede a goal like this and we need to learn from our mistakes.”
The pressure will seriously mount on Jose Mourinho now because not only are Spurs in danger of losing a top-four spot but Europe altogether.
Added with that, they are nine points behind fourth-placed Hammers, and even if Spurs win their game in hand, there is still a significant gap.
There’s no doubt that sections of the Spurs support will be calling for Mourinho’s head now because, whilst they won in the Europa League and are in the League Cup final, it just isn’t working in the Premier League.
