Rio Ferdinand believes that Tottenham Hotspur ‘could be a problem’ under Ange Postecoglou, predicting trophy success.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has impressed pundit Rio Ferdinand after meeting for an interview recently.
Tottenham are no longer top of the Premier League table and no longer unbeaten in league action under Postecoglou.
Monday’s 4-1 home defeat to Chelsea was a truly bizarre game with Tottenham playing more than 40 minutes with just nine men.
Chelsea picked them off in the end and Postecoglou must now deal with a host of injuries and suspensions.
Rio Ferdinand impressed with Ange Postecoglou
Postecoglou has earned major praise so far this season and one defeat in rather freak circumstances shouldn’t derail Tottenham.
One pundit who is predicting big things for Tottenham this season and beyond is Rio Ferdinand.
The former England defender stated on FIVE that he recently met up with Postecoglou for an interview.
Postecoglou blew Ferdinand away with the way he talks about the game and the way he is creating a positive culture at Tottenham.
Ferdinand feels that Spurs are ‘going in the right direction’ and ‘could be a problem’ for the top Premier League sides with Postecoglou at the helm.
Ferdinand added that he believes Postecoglou will win silverware at Tottenham having created a winning mentality with his previous clubs.
“I went to see him the other day to interview him and… they could be a problem you know,” said Ferdinand. “Not to win this league now, right now, but I think Spurs as a football club are going in the right direction.”
“The way that he talks about it, the way he sees the game, he’s very kind of black and white, he’s all about creating the right culture. If you look at everywhere he’s gone, he’s been able to transfer the winning side of things in his game and the way his teams play, whether he’s come from Japan, whether he’s come from Australia, whether he’s come from the national team, to Celtic, and he’s managed those teams in similar ways and with the same end product – which is trophies; everywhere he’s been, he’s won, and I can see him turning it around for Spurs. Premier League, I don’t know, but I think he’ll get his hands on a trophy at some point,” he added.

Tottenham still a major threat under Postecoglou
Monday’s defeat to Chelsea was a bizarre one and Tottenham fans certainly shouldn’t worry too much.
Spurs still had their moments in attack with just nine men with Postecoglou remaining bold on and off the ball.
That may be seen as crazy, but Postecoglou is trying to build a culture at Tottenham and sticking to his principles felt like the best way to go.
A top-four finish would be exceptional for Postecoglou this season but fans would also love to see him really have a go at the FA Cup.
Injuries and suspensions are now a problem, but the long-term outlook for Tottenham looks encouraging.
