Tim Sherwood told Premier League Productions (04/04/21 at 3:00 pm) that he is ‘loving’ the make-up of Tottenham’s midfield.
On Sunday, Tottenham recorded a 2-2 draw at Newcastle, with Tanguy Ndombele, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso playing in the middle of the park.
Whilst Ndombele and Hojbjerg have been regulars, Lo Celso has only just returned from a long-term injury and he is making an impact already.
It’s a rarity for Tottenham fans to see them three playing together this season, but after that win against Aston Villa, they added a point at St James’ Park yesterday.
Whilst Spurs would have been annoyed by how they defended yesterday, Sherwood is liking the look of what their midfield trio do going forward.
“Hojbjerg picks the ball up and his passing is incisive,” said Sherwood. “It’s straight. It’s behind their midfield all the time. He’s looking for Ndombele and Lo Celso. And Ndombele then finds Kane for the goal.
“I am loving the make-up of their midfield. Hojbjerg, Lo Celso and Ndombele.
“They can play. They have so many options. They have the main man, the top man, in Harry Kane up front. They have Son on the bench. Bale on the bench.”
It will be interesting to see if Jose Mourinho sticks with his current XI, or chops and changes once more.
Heung-Min Son will be the obvious one to come back into Tottenham’s starting XI, if he’s fit, for their clash against Manchester United on Sunday.
But that defence needs changing once more after a pretty abject display against a Newcastle team, who have struggled in front of goal this season.
