Craig Burley has stated that Julian Nagelsmann won’t win anything of note if he becomes Tottenham Hotspur’s next manager, whilst telling Harry Kane to leave.

The dream scenario for the Tottenham supporter is to probably have Harry Kane signing a new contract, on top of the under-fire and unpopular Daniel Levy announcing that Julian Nagelsmann is going to be their new coach.

But, for former Scotland international Burley, if that happens, then Spurs still ‘aren’t challenging’ for the top honours in English football, as he feels Kane will ‘regret’ not leaving if he decides to stay, as he told ESPN.

Many felt that Nagelsmann’s sacking from Bayern Munich was harsh, well, given that they are about to lose the Bundesliga title for the first time in over a decade under Thomas Tuchel’s stewardship tells you everything you need to know.

But whilst Bayern made that huge mistake in letting the 35-year-old go, was that going to be their loss and Totteham’s gain? Well, reports have suggested there are talks, then they are off, then back on again, then off.

Either way, for Burley, Kane needs to head for the exit door, whilst he shared the trophy Nagelsmann could possibly win if he is hired as Tottenham’s next boss.

“Harry Kane has given the service to Tottenham,” said Burley. “Nobody is begrudging him as a Tottenham fan, apart from the odd moron of saying ‘I have given you this and I want to move on now. I have an opportunity. I am 29. Free transfer in a year. It’s time for this club to look in a different direction and it’s time for me to look in a different direction’.

“You can go and sign Nagelsmann in the summer. I don’t care who it is. They aren’t challenging. They aren’t challenging for anything apart from maybe the odd League Cup.”

NAGLESMANN IS THE ONE FOR TOTTENHAM

Tottenham lost their final home game of the 2022/23 season to Brentford, and in truth, the same might happen against Leeds United on the final day.

It would then result in the club missing out on Europe, which would probably be a great base for the next manager to start because things have already been woeful.

But Spurs need a structure, an identity, a forward-thinking plan, trust from the training field and a strong man-manager. Nagelsmann ticks those boxes, and if Spurs are serious, then the ‘real deal’ manager, is the one for them going forward.
