Alex Crook has told talkSPORT (01/08/21 at 9:10 am) that Southampton ‘aren’t happy’ that Aston Villa have made their interest in James Ward-Prowse ‘public’.
Whilst Jack Grealish steals the Aston Villa headlines as his transfer to Manchester City weighs in the balance, one man they remain keen on is Southampton’s midfield technician.
The 26-year-old was unlucky to miss out on England’s Euro 2020 squad this summer, but one thing is for sure, he has a serious engine on him and quality in his legs.
But talkSPORT reporter, Crook, made it clear that those down at the South Coast don’t want to sell their academy product ‘at any price’.
“They want James Ward-Prowse, although Southampton tell me he’s not for sale at any price,” said Crook.
“And they aren’t happy with how Villa have made that interest public.”

Whilst Villa fight to keep their boyhood fan and academy product, the Saints are trying to do the same with Ward-Prowse.
It has been suggested that Villa’s interest in the free-kick specialist has ‘no relation’ to the Grealish transfer saga.
But it actually does have some relation because if he comes in then Villa want to use his dead-ball qualities to get the best out of the high volume of fouls they win from Grealish.
Either way, a big few days remain for those in B6.
