Paul Merson has said on Sky Sports News (5:20pm, February 11, 2023) that Arsenal wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have become “predictable”.

The former Arsenal star has suggested that opposition teams are starting to figure out England international winger Saka and Brazil international forward Martinelli.

The Sky Sports pundit made the comments about the two 21-year-old players after Arsenal’s failure to win against Brentford at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Merson said: “I would definitely say Martinelli and Saka. Saka set up the goal, but I do think they are a bit easy to pick up at the moment. They are predictable.”

No need to panic

In our view, Arsenal need not panic about Bukayo Saka or Gabriel Martinelli.

We believe that Saka and Martinelli are doing fine.

There is no need to make any major changes to their game right now.

Yes, it would make sense for the two wide forwards to swap sides more often during a game and perhaps to vary when they cross and when they cut inside.

But the two 21-year-old players are brilliant as they are, and they should just concentre on doing their job the best they can.

We know that both Saka and Martinelli are quick and can beat opposition players.

The two Arsenal youngsters should continue to do so, and when they fail, they should just try harder.
