Mario Melchiot has spoken about how Ajax are ‘jealous’ of reported Tottenham transfer target Arne Slot and his Feyenoord team.
After sacking Antonio Conte, many names have been linked to take over at Tottenham in the summer, including Arne Slot.
The 44-year-old is edging closer to helping Feyenoord win just their second Eredivisie title since the turn of the century and their first since 2017.

If that happens, then they will overthrow their bitter rivals Ajax, who won the title under the guidance of now-Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag last season.
Given the job the League Cup-winning manager is doing at Old Trafford, then perhaps it’s a good sign to push for those types of managers.
Nonetheless, former Netherlands international Mario Melchiot shared a lowdown on Slot given these Tottenham rumours and how he is ‘one of the best’, as he told ESPN.
“He is doing really well in Holland,” said Melchiot. “He is playing the football that Ajax is a little bit jealous of because he is at Feyenoord and they are the big rivals of Ajax.
“His team are leading the charge, at the moment, that’s why everybody is talking about it.
“Why? Because he is clearly one of the best coaches we now have in Holland. There is no doubt about it. The way he puts his team out. It took him a while to get Feyenoord to where it is right now and the way they play football.
“The rivalry game between Ajax and Feyenoord beat them in a way that normally, I have played so many years at Ajax, and whenever I played Feyenoord, we always felt very confident. In this game, Ajax still said the same thing and they got beat.”

STYLE OF PLAY
Tottenham’s inability to win trophies and get over that line is always thrown in their face, and that won’t stop.
So, from the perspective of fans, if they aren’t winning silverware, then they want to, at least, enjoy their football.
The previous managers, whilst the team scored a lot of goals, didn’t provide that free-flowing style, but that’s something Slot would bring to the table, if appointed.
