Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Arsenal’s transfer plans this summer.
The Gunners had an incredible summer transfer window last term, and many are hoping that Edu and Mikel Arteta can once again work wonders this summer and propel the London club towards being true title contenders.
There’s been plenty of talk about Arsenal needing a striker, but according to Romano, the Gunners are also already looking at midfielders, but he’s led to believe that they won’t go back in for Arthur Melo, despite links in the winter.
What’s been said?
Romano shared what he knows about Arsenal.
“Yes, Elneny will go on a free, they are already looking at the market on midfielders, they wanted Arthur in January, but I think they will go for some different targets in the summer. Torreira, Fiorentina want him on a permanent, they consider him a key player and they have a buy option,” Romano said.

Interesting
It’s intriguing to hear that Arsenal are already looking at midfield targets but they won’t be looking at Arthur Melo.
In January, it looked as though Arthur was the answer to Arsenal’s prayers, but now, they seem to have gone cold on the Brazilian.
So, the question is, who will Arsenal go for? Well, there have been strong links to Youri Tielemans in recent weeks, so perhaps that’s one to keep an eye on.
We’re still months away from the window opening, so the fact that Edu and Arsenal are already looking at midfielders shows just how meticulous their planning is going to be this summer.
