Don Hutchison told the Weekend Review that Marcelo Bielsa isn’t the type of manager to ‘spend £100 million’ like Aston Villa have done.
When Villa were promoted to the Premier League, they spent over £100 million on young and unproven talent, as they aimed to sort out their thin and previously loan-heavy squad.
Leeds weren’t far off Villa’s spending mark in their first season back to the big time, as they splashed £96 million (talkSPORT) on talent, including making Rodrigo their record signing.
Despite this, ex-Everton midfielder, Hutchison, bizarrely claimed that Leeds, compared with those in B6, aren’t the types to go in heavy on the transfer market.
“I don’t think he’s the type of manager to do what Villa have done and spend £100 million,” said Hutchison.
“Or bring any flash signings in. I think he will get good players in if he’s given a budget. But I don’t expect any superstars to come.
“I think that’s great for Leeds fans and they accept that.”

Both Leeds and Villa, after their struggles in the Championship, some more than others, have now returned to the elite looking to challenge the top.
They have the managers, fan base, financial power, players and history to get back into Europe again.
And if both can progress once again next season then there’s no doubt as to why, at very least, one of them shouldn’t be sitting in those top seven places.
