Leeds United will face Bristol City and Barnsley in their next two Championship games.

Leeds United’s start to the 2016-17 Championship campaign was not great, but the Whites are in brilliant form at the moment.

The West Yorkshire outfit have won their last four competitive matches and find themselves very close to the playoffs.

Garry Monk’s side may be as low as 12th in the table at the moment, but they are just three points behind Birmingham City, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.

In fact, Leeds are only three points behind Newcastle United, who have arguably the best squad in the Championship and are one of the top favourites to gain automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Leeds may not have a great squad, but as things stand, they are certainly in contention of a playoff spot.

For the Whites to establish themselves as serious challengers for a top-six finish in the Championship this season, they have to win their next two games.

The West Yorkshire outfit will take on Bristol City away from home at the Ashton Gate Stadium on Tuesday evening before facing Barnsley at Elland Road next weekend.

If Leeds are able to pick up maximum points from these two matches, then they will head into next month’s international break high on confidence.

Momentum is a massive thing in the Championship, and the Whites have to maintain it as long as possible.

Despite Leeds’s good run of form at the moment, some will doubt whether or not they can sustain a genuine challenge for the playoffs.

After all, the three teams that Whites have defeated in the Championship this month are Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City and Ipswich Town.

Both Blackburn and Cardiff are just above the Championship relegation zone at the moment, while Ipswich are currently 14th in the standings.

Both Bristol City and Barnsley are above Leeds in the table at the moment, and winning against them is going to make other teams around them sit up and take notice.
