Colombian striker Juan Alegria made a goalscoring debut for Rangers B yesterday, netting twice in a 30-minute cameo during the 9-0 thrashing of Vale of Leithen, leading to some Rangers fans to call for the teen to be fast-tracked into the Gers’ first-team ahead of today’s Old Firm.
After finally completing his move to Ibrox this week, Alegria got his first taste of Scottish football when he replaced Tony Weston in the 63rd minute and it took less than 20 for him to get the ball in the back of the net.
Alegria’s first came after Ross McCausland – who netted three of the nine goals – flicked on Greig Allen’s pass forward before the Colombian drilled the ball home with a powerful finish.
With seconds remaining in the game, Alegria grabbed his second of the afternoon and capped off a fantastic debut, just days after signing from FC Honka.
The result leaves Rangers B one point off leaders Bonnyrigg Rose with a game in hand with the young Gers really impressing so far this season.
Alegria’s performance quickly won over fans following his move as Rangers supporters took to Twitter to laud their new favourite.
