Rangers have announced the signing of Colombian youth international Juan Alegria on a three-year deal from Finnish side FC Honka – bringing an end to a lengthy pursuit of the striker.
Rangers have been chasing Alegria for more than 18 months and looked to have agreed a deal to bring him to Ibrox at the start of the year but work permit issues reportedly put paid to those plans.
The Gers are thought to have agreed a six-figure fee for Alegria and he could come into contention to make his debut this weekend when the B team face Vale of Leithen in the Lowland League.
Like his compatriot Alfredo Morelos, Alegria moved to Finland from his native Colombia and Rangers fans hope the teenage striker can follow in the footsteps of Morelos at Ibrox.
El Bufalo currently sits on 97 goals for Rangers since his move from HJK Helsinki in 2017, with 25 of those coming in Europe and making him the club’s all-time record scorer in European competition.
Having Morelos at the club should help Alegria settle and Rangers fans can’t wait to watch his progress.
Here are some of the comments from Rangers fans after Alegria’s signing was confirmed this afternoon:
