There’s not much that will unite fans of Rangers and Celtic – particularly on Old Firm weekend – but Premiership rivals Motherwell have managed just that after Fir Park star Bevis Mugabi visited one set of ‘Well fans to deliver a fantastic gesture.
Motherwell fans have raised over £60,000 to help purchase season tickets at Fir Park for unemployed and low-income supporters and, after Mugabi delivered some of the tickets personally, Rangers and Celtic fans were full of praise for the Steelmen.
The Steelmen had already committed to giving any supporter who purchased a season ticket for 2020/21 a free season book for this season.
With over £60,000 raised, Motherwell will be able to provide hundreds of season tickets to fans who otherwise would have been unavailable to afford them and found themselves locked out of Fir Park.
While Rangers and Celtic do everything they can to catch up with the big boys of European football commercially, Motherwell and their fans have shown incredible community spirit by raising so much money.
As Rangers and Celtic prepare to go head-to-head tomorrow for the first time this season, their fans were blown away by work Motherwell and their support have been doing off the pitch recently, lavising praise on the Steelemen after they shared a video of Mugabi’s trip to deliver tickets.
Here are some of the comments from Rangers and Celtic fans as they unite to praise Motherwell’s incredible gesture:
