These eight players played a part in Sheffield Wednesday’s best season in 16 last term, but are the Owls missing them this time around?

Here’s how they are getting on at other clubs…

Michael Turner

The 33-year-old has played 44 minutes of football since returning to parent club Norwich City in the summer and could be on the move in January, HITC sources understand.

Joe Bennett

Wednesday looked to have secured a permanent deal for Bennett, only for Aston Villa owner Tony Xia to very publicly pull the plug. He has since signed for Cardiff City and hasn’t missed a minute since making his debut last month.

Caolan Lavery

The Northern Irishman snubbed the Owls’ contract offer to sign for that lot down the road. He’s been playing catch up so far, though, and is yet to start or score for ‘Dem Blades’.

Rhoys Wiggins

The left-back quit Hillsborough for Premier League Bournemouth in January, having made just nine appearances. He joined Birmingham City on loan this summer, but suffered a season-ending injury in only his second Blues outing.

Jeremy Helan

A substitute in last season’s play-off final, the Frenchman had his contract terminated by mutual consent in September to focus on the Islamic faith.

Alex Lopez

The Spaniard returned to Celta Vigo in the summer but was immediately loaned out again, this time to Segunda Liga outfit Real Valladolid, for whom he has made 14 appearances and assisted one goal.

Lewis Price

The veteran goalkeeper went from being Wednesday’s number 3 to Rotherham’s number 2 after rejecting a new deal in June. However, his only Millers appearance to date was in a 5-4 EFL Cup defeat to Morecambe.

Aiden McGeady

Arguably the best-performing of all, McGeady has scored one and assisted twice in his first seven Preston appearances, having moved to Deepdale from Everton on a season-long loan deal. He is set to face the Owls twice in December.
