It seems the Rangers striker was not happy toward the end of Mark Warburton’s Ibrox reign.
Rangers manager Mark Warburton with Martyn Waghorn at the end of the match
Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn has been linked with plenty of Championship teams this afternoon. The striker is entering the final year of his contract at Ibrox this summer and is being linked with moves to Leeds United, Huddersfield Town and, Premier League relegation fighters, Sunderland.
He has also been linked by the Daily Mail with a move to Nottingham Forest, where he would join up with his former Rangers manager Mark Warburton.
Waghorn scored goals galore for Rangers last season as he helped Warburton achieve promotion back to the Scottish Premiership. But his form under the new Forest boss dwindled this season and in February, not long after Warburton’s Ibrox departure, he had this to say – as reported by the Daily Record:
“You could say so. It’s been difficult one. People don’t know if they are playing, they are in and out. There has been a lot of uncertainty at times.
“But you are playing for a big club and people are not going to deliver that on a plate. You have to go out and work for it. Other players and I have been in and out, but it’s important you do your job when you are called upon.”

Those comments seemed to suggest he was not happy with the rotation policy that Warburton was using at Rangers not long before he departed.
Forest, who have a fight against relegation to worry about before they consider summer transfers, would be the perfect move for Waghorn but it remains to be seen where he and his former boss stand after those comments.
