It’s not exactly a hot take to say Arsenal should be fearful of a £97.5m striker – if anything, that’s just stating the obvious.
Having said that, there is one specific reason why Mikel Arteta might be having sleepless nights thinking about the 98-cap Belgium international.
Why should Arsenal fear Romelu Lukaku?
Well, the 28-year-old will be making his debut (his second debut, rather) for Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
One thing Lukaku is remarkably good at is scoring on his debut, so Arsenal fans should prepare for the worst.
Chelsea’s new No.9 scored against Liverpool on his Premier League debut for West Brom back in 2012, as the Baggies won 3-0.
Then, Lukaku scored again on his Premier League debut for Everton, heading in a late winner against West Ham.
The former Anderlecht striker also scored on his Premier League debut for Manchester United, in a 4-0 win over West Ham.

Lastly, Lukaku scored in a 4-0 win over Lecce to mark his debut with Inter Milan in Serie A.
Saving grace for Mikel Arteta
As we covered yesterday, there is one saving grace for Arteta.
Lukaku’s individual record against the Gunners isn’t actually that good.
In 17 games against the north Londoners, the Belgian has scored just three goals, winning only five of those games.

In our view, Lukaku is in the best form of his career, so that record might be completely irrelevant now – he scored 30 goals last season.
However, it’s certainly something for Arsenal fans to cling onto ahead of a tough game this Sunday.
