Corinthians sporting director Roberto de Andrade has played down reports linking Tottenham Hotspur with a move for Rodrigo Varanda, while speaking to Jorge Nicola on his YouTube page.
The Sun reported a week ago that, with the highly-rated winger out of contract sooner rather than later, Spurs had entered talks over a cut-price deal for one of the most exciting young talents in Brazilian football.
Varanda, it was reported, was holding talks over a potential £8.5 million move to the Premier League giants.
Representatives working on behalf of the Samba starlet were allegedly in the process of securing the requisite paperwork in order to force through an imminent move to England.
According to Corinthians’ sporting director, however, things are nowhere near as advanced as some have suggested.
For now, Varanda remains a Timao player and that is unlikely to change any time soon.
“There’s nothing. Small talk,” De Andrade said when asked about Tottenham’s interest.

That, of course, does not mean that Spurs will not step up their interest in the weeks to come, with chairman Daniel Levy always keen to bring in talented youngsters with substantial re-sale value.
A skilful and self-confident player who thrives when cutting in from the left, Varanda is exactly what you would expect from a talented Brazilian winger.
There is certainly a touch of Lucas Mouras about the way he breaks the lines with a burst of acceleration and a razor-sharp one-two.
